The overwhelming feeling of panic and regret
before my eyes fell forever,
was the worst pain imaginable.

You couldn’t see it then
but there was happiness in the shadows
and love on its way to you.

The world was sending you laughter and smiles,
you had so much life to live.
I would give anything to go back to that night
and make a different future for myself.

But here I am,
alone in the dark,
watching the people I love crumble because of me.
Because I was too selfish
to overcome my internal battles
to save those who fought to save me.
