Nothing Wilts Faster Than a Flower in Snow

Nothing wilts faster than a flower in snow
No matter how much you love it, cold stiffens its growth

See, a flower thats covered by droplets of ice
Is mistaken for beauty and it comes with a price
Where no sun reaches leaves to fill it with warmth
A flower will struggle to maintain its form

Remember that rose that I gave you before
It was a piece of my heart and it left me still sore
A bloodpainted rose for you to cherish and nurture
A token of love and meant I would never hurt you

You took that red rose, put it down in your garden
When summer was still around its roots only hardened
When fall came around it still sat in the garden
Fighting raindrops and windstorms now the rose was a burden

My red rose that I gave you clenched hard to the ground
It still had its colours when winter came around
But no matter the will of the rose which you got
Flakes of snow hugged its petals that you had now forgot

That once bloodred rose which I gave you from my heart
Has now died in the cold and it plays no more part
So I take it your love has by you been let go
Remember nothing wilts faster than a flower in snow
