The Sailboat

The little girl that sits on top of the sand hill
Waiting for the sailboat
Funny because she knows nothing about a sail boat

With no shoes and knots in her hair
She blames herself for the sailboat not coming

So she overcompensates this part of her life with bad jokes
But she knows that the sailboat will eventually be there

But its the fact that she’s dumb enough to want to get into a sailboat
Maybe that’s the issue

Getting up in her worn in night dress
Naive as a button

To only learn one way on how to get into that sailboat
How the boat will rock

It would have been safer if she had just stayed where she was
Now for the merry go round

Of the longing for true interlock
She ponders where she went wrong

She realizes she can understand all of it and somehow still knows so little about sailboats
She will end up back on top of that sand dune

Another sailboat will take her
And that makes her so upset

Not that she hates all the other sailboats
It just gets so tiring always trying so hard to fix these dumb sailboats

Only to learn these stupid sailboats suck anyway
To angrily walk back to her sand dune and sit on it all alone

Watching all of the fish swim in schools
That longing for the sailboat still doesn’t go away
