A Happy Day

I walked into the park one day
To watch the children at their play,
I sat down on a bench to rest
Under a tree with a little nest.
The sight before me held my gaze,
For on the grass with funny ways,
Were little birds hopping about
And jumping in fear at every shout,
From children so happy in their play,
That they forgot what time of day.
Till Mums would come and take
Them around the park to look at the lake,
Where there were ducks and graceful swans
And children picnicking the lawns.
OH what a happy day I had,
Among the flowers I felt so glad
To be alive in the world to-day
And have the chance to feel this way.
