My Precious Gems

I was then six and twenty-one
When down the aisle, God gave my mate
And all those years there were some pains
But oh my joys, are these, my gems Two boys, two girls whom God hath sent
Into this world for me to bend
Values and norms to them I gave
Which they can bring until the grave All through the years I cuddled them
With all my love and great concern
That then somehow, someday they'll find
A mother's love and care sublime Now I have lost my youthful years
Nurturing them with great delight
So they may know life's struggle and fight
To give us joy, not fears nor tears As sunset draws nearer my life
I thank thee Lord for all thy might
That oh how great thou really art
For these, my gems, my precious,
precious GEMS.
