I have no conflict with mortality.
Defiance of the unrelenting years,
That drains away so many pagan tears,
Engenders no rebellious pang in me.
Yet at this moment I can dimly see,
As for a while today’s confusion clears,
A lover poet who intently peers
In Time’s two sided mirror secretly,
(unborn and unimagined, but my friend)
pleased with his glimpse a thousand years too soon.
For him by way of sonnets I have penned,
As one that listens for a wandering tune
And sees the sun-glints on a distant stream,
My love shall whisper and your beauty gleam.
