Tendencies

We are alike to one another.
Though times may come when anger boils
And I will rise to smother
The raging soul inside you.

Yet there are others.
When love shall rob me blind.
Though anger drives away the haze,
And thus repays the deed in kind.

Our lives are lived in the others fires.
For it is from each other that we were sired
Till we reach a dawning in our lives,
When child is lost, ages, dies.

And again we are born within the desires
Of statesmen and princes, of beggars and liars.
You the anger, to drive us both.
I the love, to draw us close.
