Love in a Library

My hands nervously shaking, flipping the pages of the book I ain’t reading.
My eyes not seeing the words before me.
Breath caught within; my head spinnin while I’m sittin’, waitin’ and watchin’ anxiously
as the librarian ever gently
picks up the book with my note which I penned, positioned, and placed so intently;
Trying to lay my emotions plainly, perfectly.
Now my head’s swimming, a sea of thoughts threatening to pull me down and drown me,
In the ocean’s depths my fears surround me.
What had come over me to lay my soul so barely?
Slowly, quietly, fears building inside me, I think to slink away before her eyes find me.
Her frown surely shattering my heart,
With emotions in shambles and legs shaking I’ll try to stumble away, my eyes crying.

But…she seems to be smiling?

As she reads the words her heart beats faster,
Faster, the wings of the butterflies in her stomach fluttered.
Flustered, she couldn’t help but to smile and stare,
Stuck trying to string a stream of thoughts together,
Wondering how the man she found so enchanting could love her.
For her it was love at first sight; they had talked for hours that one night.
Her shifts shorter when she saw him.
A giddiness in the air,
bouncing on her toes waiting for her breaks when she knew he’d be there,
But she had always been scared.
Fearing that he might not feel the same connection.
Was she misreading his intentions?
Creating imaginary tensions?
Asking too many questions?
The suspension of her fears unable to dampen the thoughts crashing,
Threatening to drown her in its dark ocean,
Emotions of dread rear their serpentine head,
Try to overwhelm her.
Would she be alone forever?

But no…he loved her.

He loved how she was always laughing.
She loved how he was always smiling.
Like a calm breeze the way she cares to listen.
Like fresh air, the way he opens his heart.
He had never known someone so considerate with their attention.
She had never met someone so thoughtful when they spoke.

Besides, he was handsome as hell.
Plus, she was smokin’ hot.
