A bird goes to a feeder
And finds it full of seeds
He seeks to grab a mouthful
Of the sustenance he needs
But to the bird's displeasure
The seeds are stale and old
Some spicy, moldy, soggy
Some too hot and some too cold
The feeder isn't empty
The seeds just aren't quite right
He wonders if his taste in seeds
Is maybe too uptight
The bird returns with nothing
Time and time again
Loses color in his plumage
Secludes from family and his friends
"Just find another feeder"
Says the squirrel to the bird
But he doesn't have the energy
To search as he's referred
He knows he wants to find them
To one day have a nest
With mother bird and little chicks
Nuts, seeds, and all the rest
A perfect feathered family
A tree with scenic views
The bird thinks it impossible
When all he does is lose
Since coming back with nothing
On every single trip
The bird is left with no choice but to
Loosen up his grip
The bird will soon lose stamina
And plummet from the air
He'll hope to find another bird
Or squirrel who will care
He won't know how to ask them
Or if to ask at all
He'll wish they don't turn blind eyes to him
Once they've seen him fall
If no one comes to get him
He'll writher til he dies
But if one comes to help him up
Then he may start to rise
With the animal that saves him
And treats him as he needs
If they can save that lonesome bird
He might go gather seeds
