The solemn funeral of emotions

I buried my heart this very hour
Far into the waiting ground
It went without a struggle or whimper
And never made a single sound

It is no longer welcomed in this body
There is no warm place to dwell
Fractured and broken
No strength to struggle or resist
This story I freely tell

I sunk it deep and concealed the organ
To ensure there would be no escape
There is no recourse
For humans like me
So, it is for death I patiently wait

It was the solemn funeral of emotions
The burial of a shattered soul
The result of love betrayed
A mind twisted and frayed
Long grown bitter and cold
