Death Smiled at me Sweetly

Being weary of this world
I graciously returned the smile
Banish the tribulations of living he said
Let us together for a moment halt time

He spoke of a sphere know only to the dead
Where heartbreak and pain did not exist
And as I listened closely the more he spoke
Being quite at my ease
The more I was inclined not to resist

He took my small hand in his
For he knew without inquiring
I had freely made my choice
Upon my last journey I eagerly embarked
A frail mind
A fading voice.
