They boldly took over our land
That had belonged to us for many, many years;
And they forced us to walk down
The trail of tears.
They didn't understand our lack of appreciation
For the way we were being treated;
And they couldn't fathom why
We felt we were being cheated.
They didn't understand our reservations
About having to give in to defeat;
But it saddens our hearts to know
That history might one day repeat
Itself.
As we were being pushed down that dusty road
Realizing some of our worst fears;
There seemed to be no justice for us at all
On the trail of tears.
