Seen And Unseen

Words softly spoken with compassion,
Still fall harshly on my ears.
The sentence is imposed not for any crime committed,
Unless in unknown karmic sense,
But rather by my doctor who, healer though he be,
In this case cannot heal.
Duty bound, he must impart the truth,
"Your sight cannot be saved."
By whomever spoken, truth must be told,
And also be accepted.
The doctor's voice goes on,
"You will see light and darkness."
From somewhere comes a message,
"There are other ways of seeing."
Oh, seen and unseen--light and dark,
I shall choose the Light.
