Trees, lanterns, cars

I’m looking out the window of this darkened room
I can’t see far
I only see trees, lanterns, cars
But I keep staring; what else can I do?
A sudden fog appears
Outside the window of this darkened room
Covering all the
Trees, lanterns, cars
But I keep staring; that’s all I can do

My heartbeat is a loudness in this empty, darkened room
Throbbing every second, creating a beat with which
My throat unconsciously hums along
Boom
My mind created an illusion
The fog is no fog
It’s smoke from a bomb
A sudden fire appears
Outside the window of this darkened room
Destroying all the
Trees, lanterns, cars
This darkened room is no longer dark
It’s no longer empty
It’s filled with my heart
My whole life scattered out on the floor

I used to think all I could do was stare
But that only brought me to my end
I watched as my soul was swallowed
In my next life I won’t be frozen
I won’t be followed
I’ll get in that tree, lantern, car
And drive away
Feeling everything, everywhere
Feeling all, but lost
