When Love Is True

I’ve given my heart to winds and rain,
To men who came like storms, then left again.
They swept through my soul, wild and bright,
But faded like dusk into the night.

I long for love like a quiet stream,
Clear and calm, where I can dream.
A love that’s steady, like roots in the earth,
That doesn’t falter, for all its worth.

I crave a touch like autumn’s breeze,
Soft, yet constant, with gentle ease.
A love that doesn’t leave me to sway,
But anchors me through night and day.

I’ve felt the frost of distant stars,
Cold and distant, leaving scars.
I’ve known the thunder’s hollow sound,
A love that shakes but can’t be found.

But still, I dream of summer’s glow,
Of fields where flowers gently grow.
A love that blooms through every storm,
That nurtures me, keeps me warm.

So I wait, like trees that bend but stand,
Hoping for a love that understands.
A love that’s rooted deep and true,
Like earth beneath the sky’s vast blue.
