Out of the mist she appeared in October,
Where the avenue crosses the street;
A stunning figure in black attire,
Attractive, vivacious, petite.
I peered from my window at midnight.
All around me was dark and serene.
Only the glow of the street light
Enhanced that incredible scene.
Our eyes met and held for a moment
As surely as if it were day;
Then having delivered her message
She turned - and walked slowly away.
I knew she was aged and ailing
And it seemed that it never could be,
But her spirit had traveled a great many miles
For a brief visitation with me!
