There is a lovely old house
By the sea
That stands half hid by
A crumbling wall
Through broken windows
The wild winds play
And nobody lives there
At all.
Memories flash back and
faces I see
Growing up with my family
The cat on the rug in
Front of the fire
The smell of cookies as
You enter there.
The garden is tangled
Overgrown with weed
Bright flowers in their
Beds
Have all gone to seed
Alone and majestic the
Tall fir tree stands
Guarding our place
While we seek other lands.
