A sudden blaze,sharp and fierce,
piercing the quiet like a blade of glass,
splintering shadows that once cloaked the world.
I am caught, breathless, eyes wide and empty,
a moth to the flame, forgetting the dark
that was once my shelter.
All I see is brilliance, burning
away the known
and in that flood of fire,
I am weightless, lost,unbound.
What I was fades, edges blurred in the glare
and what lies ahead is hidden,
wrapped in the same blinding light
that now holds me.
