The Snow Fell

God sighed,
and the snow
fell.

Drifting slowly,
steadily downward;
with an artist's patient hand
covering all that had grown
shabby with age; brown with time,
and sullied with man kind's strife and toil;
Causing the hustle and bustle of man
to abruptly cease,
with a mother's gentle hand,
and putting the weary
but willful world to bed.

God was tired, full of woe
from watching our business down below,

and so one day

He sighed,
and the snow
fell.
