I wonder if I will ever love myself
sometimes I think I do
but then I catch myself
keeping tally
taking note
of how many people I make laugh
of the good things that I do
of the things I got ‘right’
as if these moments will make me worthy
and then I remember
if I loved myself,
I wouldn’t feel like I had to earn it
