When I was a young child
I did not run wild,
I was taught that being happy
Could be a lot of bliss
How great life is.

As the years went by
I began to wonder why
Teenagers played in sports,
Until I did the same
How great life is.

When I was in the war
Sometimes, life seemed a bore,
Then I traded my gun
For a honorable discharge
How great life is

Now when I write poetry
For all people to enjoy,
I know it will make them happy,
Which makes me also happy
How great life is.
