I love my Jewish girlfriend
And the similarities of our beliefs...
While we are both spiritual by nature
We know Jesus didn’t wear briefs...

We sometimes disagree on principle
But the basics we believe to be true...
The Golden Rule is the best of all:
Treat others as you want them to treat you...

I asked her to join me on Ash Wednesday
To accept the blessed Ashes of Lent...
We both liked the minister at Trinity Church
So as one couple, together, we went...

As we were leaving Trinity Church
With our Ashes firmly in place...
She gently whispered into my ear
Do they stay all day on my face...

So our spirituality is all very similar...
We share the Old Testament, you may recall...
While we don’t yet agree that He’s the Son of God...
We think Jesus was the finest Jew of all...
