Love deeply

When I love, I love deeply.
If I love you, I love only you

I care about what you ate for breakfast
and how much sleep you got
I want to know your favorite movies
Your favorite color
What songs you listen to.
I want the clichés
I want to watch the stars,
I'd kill to dance in the rain,
I want to brag about you to my friends.

Because when I love, I love deeply.
If I love you, I love only you

But that was not the case for you.
You didn't care about what I ate for breakfast
You never asked how much sleep I got
My favorite movies weren't important
My favorite color was irrelevant
The songs I listened to didn't matter.
You didn't want the clichés
You didn't want to watch the stars,
didn't want to dance in the rain.
You kept me a secret,
Afraid it'd get out.
Your friends barely know who I am.

You don't love.
You say you love,
You say you care,
But you never showed it.

And now you're showing her.
You know what she had for breakfast,
You ask her how she slept every morning
You know her favorite movies
Her favorite color
Her favorite songs.
Now that I'm gone
You want the clichés
You want to watch the stars
You actually dance in the rain.
You don't keep her like a secret
Locked away safely like I was.

When I love, I love deeply.
If I love you, I love only you.

But sometimes it feels like a curse.
