The Man Runs Through Me

Like swelling tides
The man runs through me,
Leaving me alone.
Obsessed,
Waiting for the next rush
to engulf me.
The rhythmic cycle
reminding me
Of the love
between two people.
The obsession
drives me towards him.
My caution
holds me back.
Fearful of possession,
Remembering lessons
I've learned before.
Not wanting to scare him,
I stand
resolutely.
But, swaying, none-the-less
As the man goes through.
Aching
As he backs away.
