My lips are speaking kinder
My steps are more steady
My breath comes more evenly
My thoughts are more ready.

I wonder at this change in me
But then I remember
That "where the Spirit of the Lord is...
There is Liberty".

What, then, is true liberty?
I believe it is that
Which frees us from --
Selfish thoughts of only "me".

It frees us from the rule
Of our own base desires
And puts on the throne eternal hope
Which is so much higher.
