The Swallow's Tale

Nature's canvas provides a portrait of
Resplendent creation,
Whose bright orange breast shelters,
A lion's heart.

Among the shadows of Capistrano,
Their song envisions angelic images,
As true as the arias of Mozart,
Of Heaven sent Grace.

In numbers they paint the brilliant blue sky,
Reminiscent of the meadows of Van Gogh.
Their migration driven with a passion,
Equal to the murals of Rivera.

Their struggle mirrors a human struggle,
For family, security, and home.
Death and separation are constant,
Amid unforgiving forces of the natural world.

Yet, among these obstacles prevails a
Very human soul.
Courageous and proud,
In want of final reunion.
