FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN

I woke up trembling sweating profusely
The howling and chirping of the birds echo through the dead silence of the night

Then I heard it; faint at first and then louder I heard it clearly
That monstrous laughter send cold chills down my spine

Everywhere seem cold and dark
I try to cry and reach out for help but my body seem rooted to the spot

Has the cold hands of death caught me?
Couldn't it wait a while longer?
No! My heart screamed

My body and soul wriggle in pain
Then I felt a gentle pat on my cheek
I leaped in fear
But alas!
It was a nightmare
