Supernovalove

What did I feel when I first met you?
Oh; nothing much, really
I hardly noticed
Apart from the supervolcano, of course
You know, like the one that sits under Yellowstone
It's true that did erupt inside me
But I didn't let it bother me too much
And then I suppose there was that morning
The one after we'd talked all through the night
When you performed a craniotomy on me
Took out all my brain cells one by one
Sorted them alphabetically
Then put them back inside my skull
I'll admit that felt a little odd
I did notice that time stopped working
Sometimes it was very slow
Like when I found out you were still having sex with me
Three hours after we'd got out of bed
And I was in the middle of cooking lunch
Sometimes it was much too quick
Like on that run where you kept asking me questions
About what Euclid would have thought of Riemann manifolds
And I tried to answer
But you were already in the next county
I suppose looking back now it's true
There was some small disruption to my life
You told me that a nuclear bomb resting on my cornea
Wasn't as bright as a supernova
Viewed from the orbital distance of Pluto
But compared to what happened when I first met you
The supernova is quite dim.
