Life's Mountain

I climbed a weary mountain,
But I never reached the top
The way was long and dreary and I
Thought my guts would pop.
I treaded through some heart break and
Stood in a lake of tears,
It seemed my body trembled
With all life's little fears.
I fell back down a million times
But I got back up again,
I needed all the courage of an army
Full of men.
It seemed a hopeless task,
That never had an end.
But through all the rugged torments, I
Knew a "rivers bend"
His peace, his calm, his gifts, his strengths,
They never left my side.
Through all of life's unending hurts
His love in us abide.
