The Forest

I find myself captivated by her.
Lost in her eyes.
One look and I’m gone.
Off deep in the thickest of forest.
With great mountains of stone.
Rivers flowing like the veins of the earth herself.
A vast wilderness of dark and light.
Mice that scurry over the soil of the forest floor.
And birds that sing in the canopy above.
But suddenly there’s a sound.
A soft murmur that grows louder.
“Are you okay ? You’re staring.”
And I’m back.
To the real world.
I’m not sure how long I’ve been gone.
But I long to return to that place.
That sacred and glorious place.
The world inside her eyes.
