Memories

Oh for the memories of yesterday and days gone by,
Of heartaches and sorrow and loves that die.
The joy and laughter and tears of goodbye,
The thoughtfulness and kindness that money can't buy.
The dreaming at night of being held by two arms,
The sudden waking with a star, finding you are charmed.
The smiling and thinking of two minds as one,
The happiness and pleasure through strife and fun.
Life in the beginning is a wonder to behold,
But the memories at the end increase a hundred fold.
I often wonder if that great man high up above
Keeps track of all our thoughts, our heartaches and our loves.
