The Fisherman

An aimless fisherman drifting out at sea,
Seeking direction for what cannot be,

Consumed by perception, and with no end in sight,
A self inflicted abyss, a realization requiring all his might,

Light turns to darkness as hope fades away,
No words for the fisherman, his mind filled with grey.

Seeking solace, the the man lights his last match,
Temporary relief, a flooding dam fixed with a patch,

As the match begins to fade and all hope is lost,
The fisherman spots a candle, but at what cost…
