they do; which is mainly standing still
through the daystone desert-glow
Let the sun go down though, and cactus
people change before your eyes
behind your back so that you don't
know just what to make of them --
with shadow-seas molding tricks in them;
From straight and dry they go to grey
and ghosts that wave the way
the night is turned, and if you walk
among them; --- strange
when it is dark and grave
you'll feel them watching,
yet turn to see which way
They take a breeze
like tuning forks all over --
and cactus people make a dumb-show
you never will know what other-worldiness
they are manufacturing
so cautious under their combs.
