I lay awake, another night to forsake
“Will you leave me now?” I ask this corkscrew ache
It’s silence is what beckons me to the floor
Another night gone knocking on that iron door
She speaks to me softly in the pouring rain
“I’ve come to soothe your own weary brain”
Grabbing her hand, I go on to sit on her stool
Only to see her treat me like some common fool
The gas that was lit, begins to blind my eyes
So do my words shined in violent lights
Dylan sings “It’s all over now, baby blue”
I don’t know what all that does construes
“Make what you want, we’re here for your life
There ain’t no use in speaking to us right”
That’s all I heard when I strolled past their feathered bed
And so I speak with a million voices in my head
“Come, get me” she speaks again like honeydew
“Well, its all over now, I’m no more your baby blue”
I turn and say before leaving on a clunky cargo train
Only to realize my words went into a mired drain
Come meet me once when I’ve worn my iron mask
Let’s see then what questions you’ll choose to ask
For it’s all over dear & now I’m in the mud
And you stand there, your ears plugged in
With white cotton buds
