In the ringing of bells
If there was no poetry
Would you have flocked to prayers
On hearing it?
And in the fisherman's whistle
If there wasn't poetry
Would you wait for him
In the next day?
And the flowers would have
Delayed its bloom
To the day after
If there is no poetry in night.
Yet they do not flaunt themselves as poems
No metaphors ,no implications
Nor too many words in them
Poetry in bells Is the ringing
Poetry of darkness Is the dark
Not anything more
Nothing less.
