THE ANGELS IN KARIS

Walk around in shoes
too thin for February

on the railroad station in Karis
back and forth, smoking

Trains arrive and depart
Tomorrow will be just the same

Snow is falling lightly, glittering
Snow is falling lightly on their eyelashes

They breathe lightly like aluminium
They know about the god-forsaken places

They laugh! Nothing horrifies us as much
as when they laugh

Nothing horrifies us as much
as the godforsaken places

And whatever is red-rimmed
