The Indomitable Human Spirit

We have enslaved lightning
And thunder’s roar, defeat it admits

We have survived death’s pain
And create life with wits

For some, life is a prison
Yet they reach for freedom through the slits

Us on this beautiful rock
It is the essence of our souls not to submit

To others than God
With him, our passion commits

To wage war on many fronts
Poverty, disease, and famine in hell’s pits

Which we may lose
And yet the drum is still hit

And our soldiers will chant
Until their lungs finally quit

The indomitable human spirit
