The Second Wave

Time altered within itself
And the turning world stopped
Life’s exodus began
The frozen hands of a clock

Alone with only their thoughts
Humans perished in silence and fear
Struggling and infected
Dying faces covered in tears

The lone assassin
Spread from hand to hand
The scourge of overpopulation
The earth wept for man

Once again time shifted
The bodies buried and burned
Those left living had only questions
For their lost ones yearned

Those on the frontlines that remained standing tall and brave
Trembled in fear
Faced with the horror
Of the second wave
