The Fading door

From my beloved lips, betrayal did fly
The fleeting memory of a face once adored
A heart beating wildly still intact
Trusting coy glances and naïve adoration
My emotions were destined to be cruelly shorn.

When did I begin to shun with such ferocity?
Loves overture and deceptive embrace
Exchanging it for a state of solitude
Despising the rising sun
Ever longing for melancholy’s sweet song of malaise

When did the blood in my veins begin to slow?
My weakening heart yearning for an illusion
From my mind long frayed and torn
I gave a careless thought or two
Cast them into memories abyss
And closed the fading door.
