I will never love again

For I have neither the courage, fortitude
Or desire
Having learned my lesson well
From standing too close to glistening embers
And by my own choice raging fire

My now frail emotions are twisted scorched
This heart bears scars of the heat
Blistered charred and burned
From carrying the flaming torch

No I will never love again
The outcome is often too much too bear
Too risk my sanity
For such obscurity and uncertainty
I do not possess the fearlessness to dare.
