Steve Otieno is a poet based Eldoret, Kenya.
Born in Nyali, Mombasa Kenya, the passion for travelling has seen him live in different areas including Nairobi, Kisumu, Muhoroni, Iten, Awasi and Kitale.
He gained primary education in Ganjoni Primary School, secondary education in St. Charles Lwanga Secondary School and tertiary education in Kisumu Polytechnic.
In addition to being a poet, he is a research consultant and freelance writer by profession.
His love for poetry began by reading the writing of his elder brother and challenging himself on how he could approach similar themes, albeit from a different perspective.
He has been part of a poetry event, One Night Stand, an event that was established to showcase and nurture the talents of upcoming poets in Eldoret Kenya and is also a member of Eldoret Poets Association.
He writes poems as a way of expressing not only his personal experiences and observations, but also as a way of reflecting on the many forms of the world - be it in their beauty or their misconceived ugliness.
He believes that the interplay of what is considered beautiful and ugly is what truly makes the big picture.
