Simple Pleasures

A pigeon preening, feathers soft and bright,
A dog’s delight, a treat held tight.
The thunder’s rumble, rain’s gentle pitter-patter,
A cat’s contentment, a purring, happy chatter.
The bookstore’s scent, of paper and of ink,
Watching raindrops, a peaceful, calming blink.
Dancing to my favorite song, a joyful leap,
A mother’s hug, a comfort, safe and deep.
Daydreaming, lost in thoughts so sweet,
A friendly dog, a wagging tail to greet.
Watching smiles, a happiness so bright,
The joy of reading, a newfound delight.
Tears that cleanse, a heavy heart made light,
Deep conversations, through the darkest night.
My favorite show, a comforting embrace,
These simple pleasures, fill my life with grace.
