Which May Prove Useful

My position, my lords, I take
At the end of the corridor;
We are, all in all, four:
The court jester,
The official historian,
The sooth-sayer,
And the minstrel.
We have neither names nor swords
And all are hirelings.
The gilded robes we wear
Are borrowed from the Sultan's wardrobe
With whom we have a vast friendship Deep
and vast like an abyss!
