A dutch boy came to see
Our school the other day,
We gaily took him by the hand
To show him games we play.
After we had told our friend
Of marbles, tag and ball,
We asked if he would tell
Of Holland, dikes and all.
He told us how his country
Was very, very low,
And how the Holland people
Loved their tulip gardens, so.
He told us of the cattle,
And cheese that tastes so good,
And of the many windmills
That in his country stood.
Through Holland is so far away,
Three thousand miles or more,
It's fun to talk about it
For then it seems next door!
