Mr. President

You dwell in the shadows of great men.
hear their battle cries, my friend
coming from the splendid past
and, to your honor, you hold fast.

While at the nation's helm
be wary of doves and hawks in this stately realm.
they are apt to give you the lie.
Their wings may be cropped, they cannot fly.

The birthright of the union you must preserve,
and remain true to the people you serve.
Ensure that the future will be right
enforced with candor and moral right.

Follow not the devious course,
nor drown in the river of remorse,
and you will cast your own shadow, my friend-
in the company of great men.

Be not bogged in oblivion mire,
nor be burned in ignis fatuus fire.,
or you will be lost forever, my friend-
lost in the shadow of the wind.
