Blind consistency devours our souls.
It penetrates our actions
Never allowing us to branch out,
Experiment nor investigate.
The sameness dominates the route home
And the order of our days.
Fettered taste for the everyday
Forces a limited experience
And a stunted growth.
Whether meat and potatoes
Or tacos and refried beans,
Whether Samba or waltz or square dance or jig,
Whether pancho or macintosh or cape or kimono,
Does not matter one whit.
An unbridled consistency
Knows no boundaries:
For Irish, English, Spanish or Persian,
Consistency is a relentless thief.
