With milk from thy own breasts thy children nurse,
And be not than the female dragon worse;
For ev'ry animal, e'en rav'nous beasts,
Suckle their young, if they have any breasts.

God form'd the teats, thy tender young to rear,
As He prepar'd the womb its load to bear ;
The paps that give no such are nothing more
Than the seal'd womb, which never children bore.

If thou hast milk sufficient, when a nurse;
With-hold it not, lest it shou'd prove a curse:
Sarah was ninety years of age, when first,
A joyful mother! she her Isaac nurst.

If, for this purpose, God thy milk prepar'd,
Why shou'd thy babe be of its due debar'd?
'Tis hard, that thou shou'dst rob thy girl, or boy ;
Of that which nature meant it shou'd enjoy!
