Mirrors

With discerning eyes, it goes without question who is the fairest.
At least that's what the hopeful heart desires to believe while transparent within the reflecting mirror.
There lies an image full of endless truths, respect, and great understanding.
It would be reckless however to forget one's eyes can play tricks despite such faithful certainty.
In the blink of an eye the tempered glass shatters.
Frantic urgency comes forth to pick up all the scattered pieces.
Even though it hurts and bleeding out is likely, not one shard gets left behind until the reflection is whole again.
Suffering from cracks and a battered surface, the former image is now drastically different. Chaos ensues with a crashing wave of violent emotions and discouraging confusion.
Shaking the core to its limits, the thoughts shackle themselves in and the soul is enslaved.
Breathing restricted, one beckons to know how the caged bird sings.
