Integrity

Integrity is worth far more than money;
Great are the joys that fill the suff’ring soul;
The devil’s words, though seeming sweet as honey,
In truth are poison, and as black as coal.

This life is filled with sorrow and with crosses,
Which sometimes feel the heaviest of wood;
But there is gain for each of all our losses,
Though there is pain in trying to be good.

The battle for your soul will never end,
Not till the moment after you have died;
With many sins and vices yet to mend
Before you die, that cannot be denied;
The world and flesh and devil do their worst
To draw you in, and damn you with despair;
Life's barren desert fills you with a thirst
For heaven; how you long for glory there!

You long for glory and you long for rest
