An Evening Encounter

The venue is cosy and familiar;
embracing us for the perfect night.
We’ve been here before: it’s perfect, they know.
A simple meal on the floor-
it’s customary here, they know.
Tonight, sea bass baked in rock salt
with a side of soup:

Die drie uur ding

Wat is dit met drie uur ding
en slaap wat 'n mens ontwyk
en dan is dit ook die "donker uur"
wanneer die meeste mense beswyk
selfs Paul Simon het daaroor gesing
in sy "Sound of silence" - wel bekend
toe hy sy lied se woorde skryf,
"Hello darkness, my old friend."
Ek wens ek het sy talent gehad
om die woorde so te laat vloei
